  • Progressive side wagers: Casino games such as Caribbean Stud Poker often have one of these. You normally place a wager (a dollar is the usual amt.) to try to win a side jackpot that could be upwards of $25,000. Though big jackpots like these are particularly appealing, they are also incredibly hard to win. You might need to hit a Royal Flush in order to succeed on this wager. Also, picture this- you play twenty hands and place the side bet each time. That’s 20 dollars you could have used towards the real game bet in place of a sucker bet. Just think about what you could have been able to win at a wager with better odds using that 20 dollars.
  • Individual number bets in Roulette: This is particularly true for American Roulette. The reason? American Roulette has two 0’s on the wheel, as opposed to European Roulette, which has only 1. This takes the complete casino advantage from 2.63% with a single zero wheel to a whopping five% in American. The one number wager has just a one in thirty eight chance of succeeding, which are very long odds indeed. Bet on even-odd or black-red wagers alternately which have a much lower casino advantage.
  • Keno: Any version of Keno, and anyway you bet on it, the house advantage can be a huge 25%. Yes, that isn’t a typo. Due to the large amount of numbers you have to choose, it isn’t recommended to wager on Keno very much. A few times for enjoyment, maybe. But don’t spend all your money on it or you will immediately discover yourself broke.
